There is no better way to reconnect with nature than by enjoying a wild swim, with the dramatic beauty of Ullswater nearby and the River Lowther just a stone’s throw away there are plenty of local opportunities to take a dip or enjoy a paddle.

The River Lowther

Charlie’s favourite wild swimming spot is along the River Lowther, it is found as you follow the river towards Whale, before you reach Whale farm and as the path begins to leave the riverside you will find a deep pool which is a beauty spot and a great location to also enjoy a picnic. Remember to follow swim safe recommendations at all times and never swim alone.

Askham Swimming Pool

Askham outdoor pool is a 20 meter heated pool with a separate heated paddling pool for the little ones and is located just behind The Queen’s Head. Swimming sessions are staffed by lifeguards and it is open from May through to October. Please check the website for details of the prices and opening times. Find out more.
