The former family home of the Earls of Lonsdale has been named as one of the ‘top 100’ wedding venues on the planet by an esteemed bridal magazine.
For the first time, the UK’s best-selling wedding magazine Conde Nast Brides has included the historic Askham Hall near Penrith in its latest annual guide to the best wedding venues around the world.
Dating back to the late 1200s, Askham Hall only opened its doors as a luxury wedding venue in September 2013. Most recently, it refurbished its original medieval banquet hall for events and celebrations. There is also a party ‘barn’ for weddings, as well as a wedding pavilion in the grade II listed gardens and even an authentic gypsy caravan for couples to sign the register.
Charles Lowther, who owns Askham Hall, says, “We are over the moon to be included in this guide. The magazine is a leading authority for brides and grooms, so to be selected is a great achievement for all the team. Although we’ve been operating as a wedding venue for less than three years, it has quickly become a crucial part of our business and we are thrilled that this special part of Cumbria is living up to its reputation as a unique romantic destination for couples to tie the knot.”
Askham Hall’s wedding facilities will be open for viewings as part of the next venue’s Wedding Fair on Sunday 24 April 2016 (12 noon-5pm). www.askhamhall.co.uk/weddings
