To celebrate our assistant sommelier and house manager Richard Bracken’s recent recognition as a ‘Rising Star’ finalist in Cumbria Life’s Food and Drink Awards, we are delighted to announce our forthcoming 2017 programme of wine evenings. Carefully put together by Richard together with Nico – our award winning House Manager and sommelier in charge.
Askham Hall’s Head Chef, Richard Swale, will prepare unique menus to complement the wines, using an abundance of local produce direct from the Lowther family estate and drawing on this experience working alongside leading culinary legends such as John Burton Race and Marc Veyrat.
These Wine Evenings will be hosted alongside Guy Cliffe, guest speaker from Maisons Marques et Domaines, which is owned by Champagne Roderer and has one of the best portfolios of wine in the country.
On Tuesday 4 April we are delighted to be hosting our first wine dinner of the year, a celebration of Champagne with Joseph Perrier. Together with guest speaker Jean-Claude Fourmon, president of Joseph Perrier and Martin Gamman Master of Wine.
Joseph Perrier is a family owned Champagne house that’s been in existence since 1825. The current generation, President Jean-Claude Fourmon, will be presenting some of his house’s best cuvees alongside Martin Gamman Master of Wine, in what is certain to be an unforgettable evening celebrating the magic of Champagne.
Dinner with matching wine is £105 with a special room rate of £150 bed and breakfast.
£105 for dinner with wine and £150 for a double room.
Other confirmed dates are 2 May, 9 June, 15 August, 19 September, 17 October, 7 November and 19 December.
We are also holding a special evening in Bank Barn on 16 November, for just £35 per head.
